Only a hundred miles from Los Angles, the community of Big Bear Lake has every thing a tourist can desire. One of the major attractions of this paradise (surrounded by San Bernardino National Forest), is the lake. And what is the lake for if you do not take a boat to spend either quiet relaxing family time in it or go for some speed boating. Big Bear Lake boat rentals come in all sizes to cater to different needs.

You can’t talk of renting boats at Big Bear Lake without any mention of pontoons.  There are pontoon boats that can accommodate up to 12 people. These modern boats are equipped with efficient 4 stroke outboard motors that purr rather quietly, making it nice and easy on your eardrums. These pontoon boats would cost you in the neighborhood of $80 per hour. They do have discounts available if you hire them for longer periods:  – hiring a pontoon for two hours would only set you back about $140; four hours would cost about $195, and $280 for eight hours.

The smaller pontoons, which seat about 6 people, are cheaper at about $65 per hour. The Big Bear Lake boat rentals also include 14 foot aluminum fishing boats as well as canoes and kayaks for those who would rather venture off away from the madding crowd.  Many visitors love to do their own thing.  There is a great variety of boat rental choices to choose from at  Big Bear Lake, including the renting of smaller boats.  An average sized family of 4-5 people looking for a good time together can also opt for a fishing boat at about $45 for a two hour excursion.

Big Bear Lake boat rentals also include something for those with an itch for adventure. Part of their inventory includes the wave runner, which are costlier; even more so compared to a big pontoon boat.  However, nothing can compare to the swoosh of a ride over the lake for a terrific adrenalin rush.  On average, the smaller wave runner with a 2 seat capacity costs only $85, while a 3 seater would cost you about $110 dollars. The 4 seater is cheaper per person as it costs only around $125 or $32 per person.

For the lone ranger, or exercise minded adventurer, kayaks and canoes can be had for about $20 an hour.

The speed boats are costlier than all of these at $100 per hour. Remember two important things however:

1. – The speed limit is 35 miles per hour , and

2. – They are not allowed to tow any sport equipment etc.

When deciding on a Big Bear Lake boat rental, you would do well to remember a few things also:

- Fuel cost is not included in the rates.

-You are likely to be asked to pay a security deposit when you go for a big bear boat rental.

- Due to coast guard regulations, small children, and even infants count as passengers.

- The providers may also charge you extra if you pay by credit card.

- Some providers may also insist on a minimum usage, of 2 hrs for example.
